Today was our first day on the built site. Out team and the student team from Neuchatel Junior College worked together with the homeowner families and local volunteers. It was humbling to meet two of the future homeowners of the Easter House. Catinca is a 70-years old woman who lost her house because she gave it as guarantee for a stranger's mortgage, who left without paying the installments. Silvia was raised in a orphanage and is currently living with a couple who take care of her. When Silvia came to the site this morning and I asked her whether she would be working wiht us duriing the week, she said warmly and confused: " At the end of the week I am going to have a home and you came help me to that - of course I will build the whole week". I was also happy to see that a family who have not been selected yet wwre also helping on the built site. An amazingly beautiful day was witness to huge accomplishments: - we all felt more connected to Habitat as we learned about Koinonia farm and Clarence Jordan's vision on housing as part of Adam's devotion -we raised all the walls of the house and broke barriers of commnication and culture - we built all roof trusses and put 16 nails in each one - we used about 1000 nails in total :-) - we continued to build friendships among our team and with the families - we cut lots of pieces of wood - we all got sun tan
