Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project: Léogâne, Haiti Nov. 5-12, 2011

In support of Habitat for Humanity’s five-year strategy to help 50,000 earthquake-affected Haitian families, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project will be held in Haiti in both 2011 and 2012 to refocus the world’s attention on the dire need for shelter that persists in Haiti nearly two years after the devastating earthquake.   As Habitat’s flagship event, the 28th and 29th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Projects will elevate awareness of Haiti’s housing challenges and the ongoing struggles of its families to rebuild their lives.

El Salvador

Follow our team as we travel to the village of San Vicente in El Salvador to help rebuild and relocate a community following the devastating mudslides and flooding from Tropical Storm Ida.

Kenya

This Global Village team is leaving on March 12th to build homes in Maua Kenya. Maua is located in the Eastern Province approximately 250 kilometers north of Nairobi. Maua has a population of 40,820, of whom, 9,763 are classified as urban. The team will enjoy working side by side with the local people where they will have the unique opportunity to learn about their culture and lives firsthand.

Nepal

We'll be the first Global Village Team from the USA to build with families in Jhapa (Birtamod), Nepal. When rains are plentiful, this is one of the most fertile farming regions in the country. Most of the members of the team have been traveling and working together for over five years in various locations in Asia. We enjoy working hard on a daily basis and then exploring the local communities in the evenings, sampling the local cuisine and culture.

Sri Lanka

Our Global Village team will be serving in Negombo, a community about 40 kilometers north of the capital city of Colombo. The area is a well-known fishing area with beautiful beaches. Most of the communities have low-income families making a living through daily manual labor or fishing.

Nicaragua

About our team This team is now full with twelve members. As a part of this trip we are working hard to raise additional money for the Habitat Nicaragua program. We aim to fund 10 new homes in San Rafael del Sur, Nicaragua, by asking others to support our efforts.
